Hradec Králové – The citizens of Malšovice, Hradec Králové, dislike the newly drafted zoning plan. They found out a gas pipe should run across their quiet neighbourhood. For this part of the town it would be devastating, said the head architect of the municipality. People from Malšovice want to raise their concerns at a public discussion over the new urban concept. The authors of the plan will have to take people’s opinions into account.
The locals say that nobody consulted the route of the long-distance gas pipe with them. If it was built, any development of this residential quarter would be blocked. After the approval of the zoning plan, no new buildings would be approved there.
“It is shocking. This area had always been meant for family living,” said Róbert Nemeček. “The zoning plan explicitly says that technical and transport infrastructure shall be planned in conflict-free zones, mainly on state, municipal, or regional plots, and not on private land,” says Roman Dunda, owner of one of the houses.
People from Malšovice are worried that the gas pipe would ruin the residential quarters. However, the municipality and the two authors of the zoning plan, Kotas and Vymetálek, don’t intend to do anything about it. “The corridor issues from regional development plan for the Czech Republic, we had to respect the routing,” says head architect Petr Brůna. “However, we can move it outside the town,” said Brůna.
